Willie Joe And His Unitar

This week in Rhythm & Roots #25 I play a track by Willie Joe Duncan and his Unitar. I’ve played Willie Joe’s music before, but I thought the Unitar needed some additional context.

As this photo shows the Unitar was a 7+ foot plank of wood with a single wire strung along its length. Seasick Steve calls a similar, albeit smaller instrument, a one stringed diddley bow.
I reckon if that unitar string broke it could’ve taken Willie Joe’s head clean off!

Let Me Know?

Hey, all you Saints & Sinners, friends and listeners, I sincerely hope you are enjoing my weekly shows on Rockin’ Rhythm And Blues Radio. I’ve had some great feedback from people saying how much they enjoy my music selections, and how I play some tracks that they have never heard before.

I try and mix up the genres and play music that I think is very popular and also some rarer tunes I have in my collection. But my question is what would YOU like to hear? Do you have a song or tune in your head that you would like me to track down for you and get some airtime on a show?

Over to you, let me know what you’d like to hear.
